I am Shirley Bierkamp, Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Council for Certification of Professional Dog Trainers, the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training profession. Accredited Dog Trainer by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Fear Free Certified Professional Trainer, AKC Evaluator, Dog Bite Prevention Educator, American Red Cross Cat and Dog First Aid.
Educated and skilled, utilizing the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics. No pain, pressure, or discomfort to the dog is used in my training.
My focus is on all levels of obedience and behavior modification customized for you and your pet dog. Positive training is the most efficient and humane way to train a dog.
Specialty training available on a case-by-case basis for Emotional Support Animals, Therapy Dogs, In-home Assistance Dogs, and Service Dogs.
Two training platforms allow me to achieve the wanted goals for your dog.
Coaching is one training session a week. During this session, I will coach you on how to obtain the skills you want to achieve. You will have homework assignments consisting of short daily training sessions with your dog until your next training session with me. Coaching is perfect for those who are interested in learning the science behind dog training.
An alternative platform is Day Training. Day Training consists of 3-4 training sessions a week, conducted by me, in your home. Day Training is perfect for busy families who may not have the time to spend on daily homework assignments, and for those individuals who have difficulty working with their dog due to health/physical limitations. At the end of the week, we will have a transfer session where you will be coached on your dogs newly learned skills.
